The education philosophy of the Department of Economics is student-focused. The primary advantage of the Department of Economics at TED University is the incorporation of interactive learning methods into its educational strategy by emphasizing student participation is. Application-based education supported by advanced computer technologies, continuous assessment, projects, group works and presentations are the main pillars of the Department of Economics in TED University.

 

The interaction of the Department of Economics with other social science departments like political science, sociology and business administration is very high. First year courses are common to all students of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. This allows the students to have a strong natural and social sciences background and to make their own choices when continuing their education in one of the three programs at the faculty. Starting from the sophomore year, in addition to the core courses, a wide range of elective courses and specialization areas are offered by the Department of Economics and other programs at TED University. Specialization areas would be contemporary areas such as environmental economics and policies, the European Union, globalization, health economics and policies and finance, in addition to the main areas of economics such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, international economics, and econometrics. A wide range of university elective courses further contribute to students’ knowledge accumulation and intellectual background.
